This Chulucanas vase is a stunning piece of cultural history! In the late 1960s a group called Sanoc Camayoc started reviving traditional pre-Colombian pottery techniques. Through many trials and errors they discovered the technique used to create the black on white and white on black patterns, and today Chulucanas pottery has achieved worldwide recognition.
The three Adanague brothers make this vase that depicts a contemporary version of traditional Viscus geometric designs. Each brother is in charge of a separate step in the process. One of the brothers forms the vessel, one decorates it, and the third is in charge of firing and final preparation of it. They have been working in this cooperative manner for more than 15 years, and through their pottery making they have been able to raise their standard of living considerably. From a predominately rural agricultural past they are now able to provide their children with many of the modern conveniences that they did not have as children.

Paradiso has worked closely for two decades with small families in this village. As each piece is entirely hand-fabricated, no two are exactly identical; each is an individual work of art. Sometimes simple is best, as seen here with a Balinese rendition of the timeless classic hoop earring. Smooth sterling silver is used to create the traditional design. These 'infinite' sterling silver hoop earrings fit into one another on boths ends, creating a seamless look.
